Pavel Reshetnikov, OPEN Group Business Development Manager, Makes Presentation on Prospects of Using AI in Retail
On July 6 the Marketing and Communications Committee held a meeting at the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham)focused on the use of artificial intelligence in business. More than 30 members of the chamber participated in the discussion. Fred Ledbetter, the Managing Partner of Golden Reach and Pavel Reshetnikov, Business Development Manager of OPEN Group, were featured as the speakers.
Automation is the new direction for AmCham, and therefore, within the framework of the meeting, the committee members saw utterly different cases to form an agenda for the subsequent joint work.
Fred Ledbetter analyzed global examples of automation and the development of artificial intelligence, including hotel concierge robots, wardrobe selection according to social network profiles, etc.
Pavel Reshetnikov presented in his report the practical cases of using Image Recognition technology widely used in various fields around the world - from searching topics on pictures on the Internet to the Chinese national rating system. He examined in more detail the practices of using this technology in the retail industry:
“For networks and FMCG companies, this is an opportunity to optimize the working time of field staff up to 16% and, accordingly, improve ROI. At the same time, for our business, it is a necessary tool for monitoring employee performance. Even though similar technologies began to be massively introduced in Russia relatively recently, there is a pool of local players such as Mirum, Intelligence Retail, Inspector cloud and others. These companies, who practised their systems on large FMCG players, are ready to provide a choice of international solutions that proved their effectiveness in global projects. The digital system, saturated with various solutions, allows representatives of retail chains and food producers to choose the technology optimal in terms of cost, functionality and adaptability. This technology soon will become one of the essential attributes of work in this industry,” , — he said.
The second technology discussed by the speakers was the Alerting OSA system. This system uses the artificial intelligence to evaluate and predict sales results in the outlet, develop work prioritizing system and, in the future, build merchandiser routes, making all work more meaningful and focused on solving problems. “I suppose that in five to seven years when both technologies will become the usual way of doing business, we will consider their mutual integration as well as the development of artificial intelligence of the second level,” Reshetnikov. concluded
